confessions of a professional blogger

There may be many successful bloggers in this blogosphere but every one of them has a story and many things to confess.

Just after entering in the field of blogging, I used to think how people survived the phase I was stuck in? For you and every blogger there, it would be great to know the confessions of a professional blogger.

People dream to become a famous blogger but a few of them reach to that position. What are you thinking about?

Don’t you have any confession to make? From a blogger’s point of view, you may have learned a lot and many things are there which are yet to be discovered.

But there are a few things which may be the hurdles in your path.

What Are The Confessions of A Professional Blogger You Can Relate To?

From learning the ABCs of blogging to the marketing strategies, everything has a story. In this article, I am going to share some of the confessions you can relate to.

#1. Blogging Is Boring When You Keep Working For A Long Time.

Whether you believe it or not. But when you keep writing and writing for a long time, you feel like sleepy. It’s the fact.

No one can maintain their interest in one damn thing for so long. Sometimes, blogging feels like a boring thing. Not everyone is a big fan of writing.

#2. Not Making Money Hurts A Lot.

A lot of bloggers start their blog to make a decent money but they fail and it really hurts.

You know what, when you invest your months and don’t get anything in the return, that’s really painful. There are many bloggers who can relate to this point.

#3. Not Getting Traffic Even After 6 Months Is Killing Many Bloggers.

People work hard to get the positive results from their blog. Instead of the growth in their blog traffic, the level gets down and that’s when it feels like quitting.

You apply all the strategies including the email marketing, Facebook marketing, Twitter marketing etc but don’t get any kind of plus point. Isn’t that heartbreaking?

#4. People Lie About Their Blogging Success.

confessions of a blogger

For a beginner, other bloggers are like the mentors. But as soon he/she realizes the real truth about blogging, it’s really devastating.

People lie about their money making. If you have a common sense then you would think that how can someone having a 2-month-old blog reach the Alexa ranking from 2 million to 20 thousand?

Isn’t that all bullshit? The thing is every time you read a post, it feels like everyone is lying. People really need to know that others have a little bit of common sense.

#5. Everyone Knows About Catchy Headlines But It doesn’t Work For Everyone.

Every now and then, you may read the articles about having an attractive headline always drive the traffic.

But the thing is how are you going to do that? Apart from millions of blog posts on the same topic, how are you going to stand?

It’s really scary. Everyone is bullshitting and no one is providing the real guide.

#6. Yoast SEO Is Everywhere.

When people promise to provide the best SEO guide and show the use of Yoast SEO plugin and a few more SEO plugins, it’s humiliating.

I mean everyone is using it and everyone knows that it’s one of the best SEO plugins. But the point is how to improve the SEO of your blog?

Apart from giving the proper on-page and off-SEO guide, people promise to give their useless formula.

#7. Content Is Not The King, The Creator of The Content Is The King.

This is one of the confessions of a professional blogger, you would love to hear.

People use this “Content Is The King” like a million times on their blog. But the real thing is that the person who has the ability to generate the content is the real king.

What do you think? If someone writes an article for a famous blog then is he/she providing the content?

Well, it’s only the content, the quality is yet to be disclosed.

#8. There Is No Secret Formula For blogging.

I hate it when people try to sell their guide and products by deceiving their readers with the fake promises.

Let me ask you a question?

Can you believe someone who is having only 100 visitors a day and promising to provide you the secret formula to drive 100000 visitors?

Well, it’s all about agreeing with everything people say. When a pro blogger says that he/she followed the writing process and gained the success.

The thing you would never know that actually the traffic was bought. This is really sad when someone finds that out about the secret and irrelevant formula.

#9. Everyone is After Vocabulary.

What the hell is wrong with everyone? You should write to make people understand in the simple and effective language.

People guide the beginners to write like a professional. And let me ask you one more thing. How does a professional write?

If you expect someone to believe that embedding the power of someone hard words for which people need to open a dictionary then pardon me, you’re not teaching, you’re just flaunting.

#10. Why Do People Force Others To Adopt Their Writing Skills?

Blogging is about sharing your ideas with your own words. But a few people try to force others to adopt their way of writing.

And it’s not possible to master in other skill than yours. You should try to embrace your own writing style.

Get rid of those false promises to be a better writer. You can become a writer only if you follow your heart. Learn yourself, practice more and gain the strength.

#11. Why Do People Fake About The SEO?

confessions of a professional blogger

You can find the people promising for the better SEO of your website. But no one really does that. A few are there who really knows how it’s done.

The best SEO is to be consistent, provide the quality content, learn some basic of SEO your own and that’s it.

There is no magic broom which would fly your blog with a glance.

#12. There Is A Flipping Coin Having The Hard Work And The Smart Work At Each of The Faces.

Have you too read something crazy about being smart? What do you think?

Can smart work beat the hard work? Don’t you think whether you work smarter or harder, you have to keep both the things together?

I really pity the people who try to manipulate their readers by providing a meaningless guide focusing on the smart work.

It can send the negative signals to the newbies.

#13. People Like To Connect With Who Are Worthy.

Let me clear your illusion. Everyone tries to vow his/her readers with some cheesy lines but somewhere in the deep the feeling of connecting with the influencers is always present.

You can’t deny the fact that you always like to connect with the people who really have the potential.

It’s the human nature to match their level. Whether it’s about the maturity or the talent, it’s the personal choice.

#14. Many Bloggers Are Really Jealous of Successful People.

what are the confessions of a professional blogger

The truth is that when someone reads about the success stories then the first thing which comes to the mind is why he/she?

Though every person has the different perspective but still, at least once you may think about the stupid things those successful people do.

#15. People Fake The Greetings.

This is one of the worst confessions of a professional blogger. There are many people who just send the greeting without even meaning it.

It’s the fact. When you read someone’s article and find out that the only thing which has been invest is the time.

Then the final words including the sweet things are just lies.

#16. You Can’t Compare Any Spy To A Jealous Blogger.

You know what, people are really good in spying other’s blog. Checking the ranking, comments, shares, the number of followers etc.

Someone who is jealous can’t be underestimated. You never know when would a bomb drop at your place.

#17. Not Everyone Uses The Product Before Selling It.

Everyone can relate to it. At least once, you may have also tried to sell a product you haven’t used in your career.

People need money and they can’t buy everything they promote. If they would have the money to use all the products then why would they sell it by adding some extra cheese?

#18. Every Blogger Makes Mistakes.

Whether you’re a professional or a starter, you make mistakes. It’s human race and you can’t be perfect all the time.

These confessions of a professional blogger or a newbie blogger, everything is related.

You may have noticed the spelling mistakes even at famous blogs.

#19. Quantity And Quality Are Interrelated.

You may read a guide about providing the quality over quantity. But have you ever thought to measure the quality of your blog?

What’s the criteria? The thing is that the quality itself consists the fact of the quantity. More you write, more you get the results.

Maintain the quantity with the quality in your blog posts.

#20. Big Numbers Are Just Illusions.

confessions of a professional blogger

I know that people promise you the guide for growing your business by 300% and even more.

Have you ever thought about what it really mean? The growth rate is 300%, can you even imagine the current status of the person who is providing the guide.

This is also one of the confessions of a professional blogger.

And you find out that the blog is just a month old. What would be your reaction?

It happens many times.

#21. It’s really Fun When You Follow Your Blogging Dream.

After all those negative and positive things, you can’t deny the fact that blogging is really amazing when you start working towards your dream.

It may be boring sometimes but still, your passion would regenerate that spark.

It is included in the confessions of a professional blogger that if you follow your passion then you would have to work for it and win the trophy.

Confessions of A Professional Blogger And A Newbie, What’s The Difference?

If you have a chat with your fellow bloggers then you would be amazed to know that people have something unexpected to confess.

The confessions of a professional blogger aren’t that much different from the newbies.

People are super smart and they catch the reality within a few months. The only difference is in the experience.

The successful people have seen many things and that’s why they have more to tell. What do you think? What are your blogging confessions?

Can you relate to any of the confessions of a professional blogger mentioned above? People would love to hear about it.

  1. I very much like this article. You don’t hear this truthful range from an expert quote unquote professional normally.

    Thanks

    1. Hey Robert,

People always speak their hearts if they are really committed to their work. But you know, there are many things to confess.

I am glad that you liked this article.

      Thanks for stopping by.

      ~Ravi

  2. OMG! ?

    Those confessions are real indeed.

Person should be passionate for his work, no matter what he is doing!

I would suggest to blog passionately to avoid boredom.

    Thanks,

    Avinash

    1. Hey Avinash,

Passion always kills the boredom but sometimes the phenomenon of regularity breaks everything. So keep working hard and try to maintain your passion in blogging.

      Thanks for dropping by.

      Have a great week ahead.

      ~Ravi

  3. Awesome Post, Ravi.

True, there’s no magic formula. Most of what we read is a big fat lie. It’s not going to be easy and it’s certainly not what the “gurus” claimed with huge $2500 courses.

It takes a long time and success with blogging can come with its own side effects. It’s possible to be bored, especially when all that work doesn’t yield results right away.

That’s why it’s important to keep doing what needs to be done. Totally agreed.

    Ash

    1. Hey Ash,

Whether you start your blog your own or take any online course, the speed will be the same. You can’t touch your milestone within a month.

To build a better blog, you have to devote so much and time and efforts. Every time you publish a post, some different thoughts may come into your mind.

Consistency is the key to success.

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

      ~Ravi

  4. Hey Ravi,

Several studies, has proven long time reading and writing makes people tired and bored, if a person doing it continuously it cannot provide effective thought. I really like your thought that a creator of the content is the king because everything depends upon him.

I really agree with your points that blogging is all about sharing our ideas with own words – many of blogger wants to adopt another bloggers style of writing but i think it is not a good decision. Eventually, thanks for sharing your most interesting thought with us and one thing which i want to share with you that this post become one of my favorite.

    With best wishes,

    Amar kumar

    1. Hi Amar,

Blogging can be boring. Sometimes, it may lead you to quit writing. No one is habitual of writing every day.

People should seriously think about some different ways to keep their interest in their blogs.

These confessions of a professional blogger can really kick out many things.

      Thanks for stopping by.

      ~Ravi

  5. hahaha! It made me laugh, Ravi! So, true! Loved all the confessions of a professional blogger. Blogging is a very serious job. What I have found is that one can not achieve success without having real love for writing. Earning money takes a lot of time and one can dedicate that much time only when s/he loves blogging without any conditions. Those who feel that blogging is an easy-peasy way to make money -they are bound to get disappointed.

    1. Hey Lalit,

People have a misconception about blogging. It’s not a one day or one month thing. You have to take some serious steps. Whether you’re a part-time blogger or a full-time blogger, it will take the time to embrace your blogging skills.

The real love for writing is what makes a blogger different from all the others.

Thanks for taking the time to share.

      ~Ravi

  6. Hello, Ravi!

I can definitely relate to many of the confessions!

Starting with the interest; my interest diminishes time to time. Probably, that’s because of the job I do along with it.

And sometimes I think I have enough time and will develop my blog later that I do have a good amount of the time.

But in reality, these are all fake thoughts I have developed around myself.

I will really give myself a push back out of my miseries!

And that’s the best of the solid content I ready today!

    ~ Adeel

    1. Hey Adeel,

One in every three bloggers, you would find the same thing. People get excited when they see the shining of this blogosphere but it fades with the time.

You should spend more time with your blog. People are really working hard to push themselves.

Having a job along with blogging is quite tough.

I am sure, you will find your path.

      ~Ravi

  7. Hey Ravi,

I am totally agree with you that every beginner think that person he/she is talking with is genius they don’t even check out either that blogger is guiding them in right way or not.

I always afraid of bloggers who started 3/4 months ago and telling other how to derive traffic and SEO tips. I don’t know but There are many tool that help getting idea about traffic of blogs but no one even go to this tool. Leave it.

So one who started few month back now is providing SEO guide and telling other how to derive traffic. Great even that blogger does not has 100 page view.

I read many seo guide of so called expert and end up with WTF. I think this is only reason that some of blogger quite because they didn’t find right or may be they were looking for secret that does not even exit.

    Secret is hardwork + Smartwork.

I think this comment is going offtopic.

    1. Hey Ravinde,

I can understand your frustration. I have experienced. People try to manipulate the beginners with their mesmerizing words. It’s important for you to start learning from someone who knows the real thing.

Within a few months, you can know the difference between a genuine guide and a fake guide.

Those useless SEO tips and blogging tips, leave them aside and learn yourself. You should do some hardwork but make a combo with the smartwork.

      Thanks for sharing your views.

      ~Ravi

  8. Hi Ravi,

Fantastic post! If one is blogging for a while they can sure acknowledge each point you mention. I do have to laugh at the many false promises out there. Thousands of followers in one day….what kind of followers? Increase profits 300% – what kind of profits? On and on it goes like a carousel on high speed….Only if you believe it.

And what about those courses from someone who hasn’t been online for more than a few months? Yikes…we can all learn our lessons, but we do have to pick and choose wisely when following someone. He or She needs to have experience, be trusted and most of all have compassion for those who are signing up.

When it comes down to it, we all have to put in our time. Fail a few times at things and get up and continue. A blogger must have passion for the every day chores and not expect to be rich over night. The real key here is to care about others. Once you do, it becomes easy.

    -Donna

    1. Hey Donna,

Just like you, I always laugh at the people who try to sell their product on the basis of their fake promises. I have always considered the people who have a strong reputation in this blogosphere.

Some people are just here to live in a dream world. They hallucinate and the reason is because of the useless guides.

It’s important to find someone is well-experienced and who can really teach you. People should connect with the bloggers like you, Donna.

      Thanks for sharing your experience.

      Have a great week ahead.

      ~Ravi

  9. Hey Ravi,

I love this post! There is some great truth in your confessions, and you’re right that there are a lot of bloggers who don’t want these truths become common knowledge.

The one lesson that’s stuck with me throughout my blogging years is “write like you talk” and I don’t even remember who said it. But coming from an academic background, I had to relearn how to write in a way that “ordinary” people would understand.

    1. Hi Ruth,

There are thousands of people blogging but there are few who truly know the real meaning of that. Writing for your readers is the best thing you can do.

Every blogger makes the mistakes but there are a few who confess about it.

      Thanks for stopping by.

      Have a great day.

      ~Ravi

  10. Hi Ravi!

    True to all ?

I was really laughing loud at some of your points. As much as we prefer an easy way it takes lots of work and consistency to build a blog. I wonder how many new bloggers really fall for all the promises? After all, if you start with 1 follower an increase of 300% might even be possible ?

I once clicked on a post that promised me a strategy how to get 1000 shares. The post itself had 50 shares. Hmmm!

Thank for this post! I so enjoyed this. Best, Ilka

    1. Hey Ilka,

Even I was laughing while writing this article. I know you can relate to many of the points. It’s not only about you, most of the bloggers have experienced that.

People with the useless guides are there who really want to seduce their readers. But unfortunately, they forget to hide the truth. Just like you have mentioned, a post promising 1000 shares having only 50 shares.

      Thanks for sharing your experience.

      Enjoy your week ahead.

      ~Ravi

  11. You really made it Ravi. Hats off to you.

All these are the bitterest realities of blogging world. I remember John Chow – one of the top bloggers of the world – once revealed in an interview he earned first dollar after 8 months of blogging. I wondered how he survived struggling in that much long period.

Many newbies start complaining after a few months if they don’t get huge traffic and not earning money.

There are so many herd instincts in blogging like peculiar plugin or a particular style of writing a blog post but those who think out of the box achieves higher level of success.

Many thanks for creating such a comprehensive post that has a lot of food for thought for those who yet to make anything big in blogging.

    1. Hey Muba,

Not only John, there may be many other bloggers who have achieved a lot and yet to confess about many blogging things. Whether it’s about making money or just their current state of blogging.

I have seen many ups and downs during my blogging journey and I know have learned many things about this blogosphere.

Thanks for taking the time to put some value.

      ~Ravi

  12. Nice writeup. I have seen many people lie about their blogging success to get popular. Without any creative idea there is no direct way to success.

    1. Hey Atul,

Having a creative idea can bring something remarkable for you. Just keep going what you have in your mind and get the results.

      Thanks for stopping by.

      ~Ravi

  13. Those are the plain truth, Ravi.

I’ve have gone through some of these interesting points in my blogging journey. Hurts and happiness. Mixture.

We’ve got to be real as bloggers. Point is most of the blogs around like ours are not original. Why? Nobody is an original.

You learn from somewhere. Put points together to come with a unique idea from a unique angle.

Yes, that’s what makes you unique, not original. That’s also the main reason why Google has never asked for original, but unique content.

It only becomes original when you’re the first to publish that particular work.

    Uniqueness is different from original.

We have hundreds of “Start a Blog” and “Create a Blog” posts all over the internet, saying the same thing. So what will make ours unique?

You have a good post there, Ravi.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Francis

    1. Hey Francis,

I like the way you have compared the original and the unique content. People are out there with their sword ready to slice every piece of the content.

If you are the one who does that first, you’re the hero.

People like something different and you should never let them down. Never lie about how far you have travelled in this blogosphere.

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

      ~Ravi

  14. Hi Ravi,

I have to agree with all the above points and I have personally experienced some of the top bloggers faking their income and traffic reports.

Moreover, there was a guy who use to buy Google Analytic screenshot from others and later flaunt that those are his.

Great to see this article on your site.

    1. Hey Shafi,

You can’t predict the truth of someone’s income until they reveal it to you. But some of them are faking it and people know that.

It’s kind of stupid to use anyone’s data just to flaunt.

      Thanks for stopping by.

      Enjoy your day.

      ~Ravi

  15. Hi Ravi,

a great article with a lot of truth.

I was thinking how blogging began, it was not about making money it was more about the passion of the bloggers.

Now many start it only because they think it is an easy way to make money. A lot of fake promises are out there and get people

trapped in wrong beliefs. Too much talk only about google and ranking and how too’s . I think things will slowly change. Blogging needs passion. I like how Donna teaches, a blogger has to be able to help people solve problems to be successful and make money. Or otherwise, he can not expect to make a living of it. Everyone who is successful did work hard and with passion. Newbies should not listen to the hype some are

    telling.

You did a good work with this post telling the reality.

    Thank you

    Erika

    1. Hey Erika,

People should be serious about blogging and money making. It’s not a career of a few months. They should know try to understand what people say and how they manipulate.

Blogging is all about following the passion but many people fake it. It’s important to know that Google ranking isn’t everything.

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

      Have a great day.

      ~Ravi

  16. This is really exposing, first there is no secret in blogging anymore, almost all of us are spies…mist time bloggers fake the success, just to get the bucks.

You have really exposed many facts and this just goes to point that I should be careful when admiring bloggers.

    Thanks for sharing.

  17. Hi Ravi,

Thanks indeed for sharing your nice view about the confession of the bloggers. You are right there are number of people lie about blogging and their earning. In reality only few bloggers are making money and there is no shortcut. You have to work like crazy to stand apart in the crowd.

    1. Hey Shiwangi,

In the last three years, I have experienced a lot. People are really into money making but there are a few people who are actually doing that. Flaunting has become a common thing now.

      It’s hard to trust anyone.

      Thanks for stopping by.

      ~Ravi

  18. Hey Ravi,

I can definitely relate to some of these confessions. I’m guilty of #17 which is selling a product before using it. This I’ve done in my early blogging days but now I buy the product before talking about it or selling it. It makes more sense.

I also thought that blogging was boring. Not only that but my writing skills were horrible lol. But one thing that kept me going was passion. Eventually blogging grew on me and the rest is history !

Great share Ravi! Have a good one !
